Our Mission
Africa Science Trackers' mission is to:
- Develop an: ALL- African Citation-Index (AST Citation-Index) of peer-reviewed scientific articles and other document types; and 2) ALL-African Scientist-Index (AST Scientist-Index)
- Facilitate the development of comprehensive bibliometric databases for institutions, government departments and NGOs throughout the continent
- Conduct high quality research in the Higher Education, Science and Technology sectors
- Establish linkages between academia, industry and government
Objectives
Africa Science Trackers' objectives are to:
- Boost the visibility of "African Science" continentally and globally
- Index all active scientists/Scholars and their peer-reviewed output on the continent
- Close or minimize the "information gap" that exists on the continent
- Encourage the production and innovative utilization of high quality research output toward the millennium development goals
- Promote greater participation by African countries in the global knowledge economy
- Facilitate the development of domestic science indicators and policies
- Identify and describe research trends by subject field
- Support favorable or "win-win", "South-South" and "North-South" scientific/scholarly collaborations
